Several years ago, the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality (BCMM) identified franchising as a suitable vehicle for initiatives aimed at growing SMMEs and creating jobs. To promote the development of this exciting sector, the BCMM sponsors an annual event known as the BCMM Franchise Expo (BCMMFE). The BCMM deserves to be congratulated on this initiative which appears to be the only one of its kind in South Africa.
An opportunity not to be missed
Last year, the BCMM Franchise Expo attracted almost 50 exhibitors and in excess of 4,000 visitors. The exhibition organisers are confident that this year, both these numbers will be exceeded. Early indications are that their expectation will indeed be met.
To continue to attract credible brands, the BCMM once again bears the full cost of arranging the exhibition. Qualifying companies receive a 3m x 3m stand complete with fascia, signwriting, carpeting, lighting, one plug point, one table and two chairs at no charge. This makes it easy for out-of-town companies to exhibit because the only cost they incur are their travel expenses.
Companies interested in participation as exhibitors should note that the official deadline for stand bookings has come and gone. However, the size of the venue makes it possible to accept a few more bookings. To find out more please contact Rodwell Sims – firstname.lastname@example.org – but be quick about it, time is running out!
Visitors are in for a big surprise
Visitors can look forward to meeting exhibitors drawn from a wide variety of business sectors. Franchises and business opportunities at a wide range of investment levels will be on offer, but there is more.
Visitors will have the opportunity to attend a series of workshops to be held throughout the three days. These workshops will be addressed by experts in franchising, small business skills and funding. The workshop programme is currently being finalised and will be published on the website www.bcmmfranchise.co.za at least one week before the event opens its doors.
So, what’s the big surprise? Thanks to the BCMM’s generous sponsorship, access to the BCMMFE 2017 and the workshops on offer, including multiple attendance, is absolutely free!
The event takes place from 16th to 18th November 2017. The venue is the East London ICC and opening hours are from 10:00 to 17:00. We encourage interested parties to note these dates and track developments by visiting the event website – www.bcmmfranchise.co.za – often. The website contains lots of interesting information already, and more will be added weekly.
